Abstract:Science communication is the human communication activities of sharing information related to research and development of science and technology to promote the communication between the scientific community and the public and to advance public engagement, and is also the field of research and practice of the citizen scientific literacy improvement. In the context of COVID-19, its importance and research value are becoming increasingly prominent. To elaborate the development of science communication in home and abroad in the recent ten years, to track forefront research progresses and to detect the differences and gaps between domestic and foreign studies, this article uses the bibliometric methods, the co-words analysis and knowledge map, to profile the publications in the field of science communication, and to illustrate the development of the disciplinary institution of science communication from several dimensions including institutes, exclusive journals, authors, countries and areas. At last, this research analyzes and visualizes the research content and themes in this field with the co-word analysis, in order to provide reference and inspiration for researchers, practitioners and even the public interested in science communication.
