Abstract:Frontier technology possesses dual characteristics: it is both advanced and uncertain. This uncertainty partly stems from the publics vague understanding of it. News reporting, as a crucial channel for the public to obtain information, plays a pivotal role in shaping the publics perception of cutting-edge technology. This study aims to explore the significance of reporting frameworks in disseminating controversial scientific issues, aiming to enhance the utilization of media in promoting the dissemination of scientific culture. The study zeroed in on NFTs (non-fungible tokens), which are closely intertwined with blockchain and metaverse technology, as the research subject. A total of 263 effective news reports were collected from five media websites: Peoples Daily Online, China News Network, Pengpai.com, Sina.com, and Today’s Headlines. These reports were then analyzed to deconstruct their reporting frameworks. The findings reveal that reports on NFT technology tend to favor hazard and progressive frameworks, exhibiting characteristics such as simplified textual language, objectivity, impartiality, and ease of decoding. Nevertheless, there are also issues pertaining to the scarcity of scientific perspectives and public discourse, as well as imbalances in the proportions of frameworks and genres within the reports.
